My advice is passing next to it at night time when the light are on and the tree becomes even more spectacular. Right next to the skating rink is the Rockefeller Tree. It was definitely on my bucket list for as long as I could remember! However seeing the number of people waiting in line for it turned me off so I was satisfied by just being there and watching people skate and feeling the atmosphere of it. In other words be prepared for the crowds! If skating at Rockefeller center in on your bucket list be ready to wait in a long line or come as soon as they open.
